#but i'm also sure i haven't cried about it non-stop on somebody's work so you know... find a middle ground there

Don't worry about what other people say. If they want a damn fic they can write a reality show one themselves (without using your plot of course). I enjoy the gifsets, and I'm sure there are other people who also enjoy them. I get it's nerve-wrecking posting it (especially bc everyone's asking for a fic), but just do what you enjoy. I look forward to seeing what happens in the future❤
Oof your second sentence. You said it, not me (but boy did I want to, my God).
Listen, I’ve said this a thousand times before but I don’t think people realize the impact of their words. I know when people say how much they want my AU to be a fic or ask who’s going to write it they mean well and are just excited about where this story could go if it was actually written, but I’m sorry to say I don’t see it as a compliment, not anymore. Initially I did interpret it as people being interested in the general concept of the AU and it drove me to make another gifset for a second part. But now? With every part that I put out and still see people whining and asking who’s writing it, it feels like they’re telling me “Cute, but you know people want more, right?” while patting me condescendingly on the shoulder. And the worst ones are the ones who don’t even reblog the posts, they just reply crying about how there’s not a link or how much they “need” it.
So... just because there’s not a fully written story ready for your consumption my work is paid dust? Bottom line here is: you don’t need anything, you’re just spoiled with new content (be it edits, fanfic, fanart, etc.) everyday. What you need is to learn how to compliment someone’s work without sounding greedy and learn how to appreciate what people can give you for free.
Don’t get me wrong, people have the right to not like my work and nobody owes me reblogs or anything, but if you’re not going to say something supportive maybe don’t say anything? At this point I don’t even know if I’d rather have people not say anything or scream in my face about what I’ve made is not enough, because that’s what it feels like.
No wonder content creators have been feeling so despondent lately. No one can quench the thirst for more, more and more in this fandom. Nothing is ever good enough and when it is they still struggle to get their work seen because people insist on not reblogging anything. I really hope all those posts sitting in your likes page are warm and cozy there, I wouldn’t want them to get sick if you put them out there in your blog for anyone to see. God, please don’t do that 😌
Anyway, for real now, thank you anon for being a gem and so supportive. It’s messages like this that can definitely make someone’s day. I appreciate you dearly 💗
#the way most of my frustration has worn off since this morning and this is my Not Rant™ reply...#lmao#btw i don't mean to make anyone who's ever said (in my posts or anyone else's) that they want a fanfic written feel bad#i'm sure i've also said it before#but i'm also sure i haven't cried about it non-stop on somebody's work so you know... find a middle ground there#there's other ways to pay someone a compliment#i'm literally giving you a fanfic through gifs#so you can't expect a full mexican telenovela since i'm obviously limited in terms of footage i can gif#but you can still point out nice things and i don't think it's that hard#i have yet to see someone mention the fact that i'm pretty much only using post hiatus footage#(so at least harry and louis look a bit more grown up)#or the fact i managed to make them have an entire conversation in part 3#despite there being no footage of them together in the same room since 2015#anyway my favorite tags last night were from people who said that my gifset was just what they needed#(i'm guessing because of how messy yesterday was)#so that was extremely nice#and if in the meantime there is a writer who'll publish their version of this au for y'all to read#i better see everyone worshipping the ground they walk on#and not taking it for granted#because writing a full story is much harder than what y'all think#asks#anonymous
